What is Light Up Livingston?
Light Up Livingston is Livingston County's effort to expand access to high-speed internet throughout the County. The County is working with internet providers and using state, federal, and local funding to build fiber infrastructure in areas that need better internet service.
The goal is simple: help more Livingston County residents and businesses get access to fast, reliable, and affordable internet.
Fiber internet can make it easier to work from home, attend online classes, use telehealth services, run a business, and stay connected with family and friends.
What is Fiber Internet?
Fiber is a type of internet connection designed to provide fast and reliable service. Unlike some older types of internet service, fiber can handle many devices and data-heavy activities at the same time. That can mean a better connection for video calls, streaming, online learning, working from home, gaming, and everyday internet use.
Light Up Livingston is helping expand fiber infrastructure to parts of the County where better internet service is needed.
Why This Project Matters.
For many years, some parts of Livingston County have had limited options for reliable high-speed internet.
Light Up Livingston is working to change that. Expanding fiber internet can help residents:
Work and learn from home
Access telehealth and other online services
Stay connected with family and friends
Run farms and businesses
Use the growing number of devices that rely on an internet connection
